These Wooden Dolls were created by Alexander Girard for the Swiss label Vitra.

Launched in 1950, Vitra has always delivered inspirational pieces of furniture as well as accessories for the home and workplace. As well as producing contemporary pieces, the design house reissues classic 20th-century designs. A close friend and collaborator of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard is best known for his textile design and graphic print work. His work is found in many museums around the globe.

Originally created by Alexander Girard in 1953 for his own Santa Fe house, these Wooden Dolls have been carefully reworked by the label for the modern home. Close attention is paid to every whimsical detail and, like the originals, the dolls are still finished and painted by hand. Each piece is a true original. Made of solid fir wood, the Wooden Dolls have features that are either amusing or grim-looking, and their bright colours bring a playful sense of fun to any interior. They vary in width from 3.5cm to 8cm, in height from 14.4cm to 30.5cm and in depth from 3.4cm to 5cm.
