Stefan Diez was born in Freising near Munich, Germany in 1971. After an apprenticeship as cabinetmaker he studied industrial design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.
Afterwards Diez worked for some time as assistant designer for Richard Sapper in the US and Konstantin Grcic in Munich.
In 2003 he founded his own design studio in his home town.
His clients are manufacturers such as Authentics, Elmar Flötotto, Moroso, Thonet, Wilkhahn.
Stefan Diez received numerous design prizes, amongst others the "Design Report Award" for the storage system "Big Bin" and the "Material Innovation Award" from the international furniture fair in Cologne. In 2007 the bags "Kuvert"(for Authentics) were awarded the "DesignPlus".
