This manufacturer, founded by Lina Rikkardsson in 1999, utilises traditional looms with wooden shuttles to weave rugs from modern materials like PVC and plastic ribbon. The rugs are ideal for allergy sufferers as they don't attract dust and are easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Lina had the idea for rugs made with plastics after taking over the weaving mill in Delarna, Sweden, where she found a large variety of bright plastic ribbons dating back to the 70s. Fast forward 20 years, and this brilliant designer has truly found her niche. Pappelina is now a global supplier and has won awards for the novel rug fabrics she creates.

The Effi Carpet Runner 70x200cm is available in a variety of bright or neutral colours and features a contrasting band around the outer edges. It is ideal for any interior, but also makes a perfect outdoor area rug. That's because it's water resistant and UV resistant and is easy to clean by hand or in the washing machine. This rug is also available in different sizes, alongside further rugs from the brand's collection. The rug weighs 2.9kg, and is made from polyester and PVC.
