Fresnel 1148 Exterior Wall/Ceiling Lamp

The Fresnel 1148 Exterior Wall/Ceiling Lamp has been created by Joe Colombo for the brand Oluce. Colombo was a painter, sculptor, architect and industrial designer with a short but distinguished career. His designs have won awards such as the 1964 IN-Arch prize, the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale in 1967 and 1968 and the 1970 Compasso d'Oro A ward.

The 1966 Fresnel 1148 Exterior Wall/Ceiling Lamp is one of Colombo's most popular lighting products. Its name is derived from the Fresnel lens, a type of composite compact lens originally developed for lighthouses. Such a lens has been incorporated into the design of the Fresnel 1148 Exterior Wall/Ceiling Lamp. The lens emits light that is soft and diffused. It is made of transparent premium quality sandblasted glass that is set around a lacquered or chrome-plated aluminium casing. It is intended for either indoor and outdoor use and so has been designed to withstand weather elements. Small enough to fit in the palm of the hand, the lamp looks effective placed in a cluster. The Fresnel 1148 Exterior Wall/Ceiling Lamp measures 12cm in height and has a diameter of 10cm.
