The Q/Wood Armchair 55x84x57cm was designed by Philippe Starck for the brand Kartell.

Philippe Starck has been an internationally renowned celebrity designer since the 1980s, and his pieces great and small have had a huge impact on the look of the world around us. The Q/Wood Armchair 55x84x57cm is a typically innovative and playful design from this groundbreaking figure.

The piece utilises Kartell's "smart wood" technology, which allows thin pieces of wood to be pressed in complex 3D moulds. The result is a continuous backrest and armrest with sinuous, sweeping curves that wrap around the sitter in a snug, comforting way. This shell sits upon a slender, elegant frame of chrome plated steel, and the design is completed with a seat of flexible thermoplastic resin in a complementary colour. The wooden shell is available in a choice of shades and grains. And while many buyers will appreciate the clean lines of the item as is, you can also increase the comfort level for everyday use with a foam-filled seat mat that has an anti-slip backing. Mixing the softness of wood with contemporary lines, this chair is equally suitable for conference rooms, cafes and kitchens.
