The Maui Office Chair was designed by Vico Magistretti for the brand Kartell.
Magistretti doubled up as a product designer and architect, seeking to find soulful ways to make classical forms more human and inviting. His chair designs were among his most acclaimed, winning Compasso d'Oro awards during the 1960s, and setting a standard for other Italian designers to follow. Magistretti was a regular partner for his Italian compatriots at Kartell, including the effortlessly elegant Maui collection.
The Maui Office Chairstands on four castors which enable motion in all directions. The chair has a tall-backed format, rises 93cm above the floor, and is fully height and gas pressure adjustable. The seat also offers a generous depth of 52cm - enough room to work comfortably for extended periods. Underneath, Magistretti used subtly curved steel tubing to reinforce the chair and ensure total solidity at all times, while he employed lightweight polypropylene plastic for the seat itself, keeping weight low and making it easy to clean. Elegant and practical, it allows sitters to fine-tune their positions, while adding to the aesthetics of any professional setting. Contoured for comfort and good-looking, the Maui Office Chair will be perfect for studies and offices alike.
