The Masters Metallic Armchair was created by Philippe Starck for the Italian label Kartell.
Founded by Giulio Castelli in 1949, Kartell is widely recognised for its innovative take on contemporary plastic furniture. The label works in collaboration with award-winning designers such as Philippe Starck. Starck is considered to be one of the most influential modern designers putting his own stamp on everything from the smallest kitchen utensils to luxury hotels. His creations in plastic are exhibited across the world and among his prizes are the Red Dot and Good Design Awards.
With the Masters Metallic Armchair Philippe Starck has transformed plastic into something precious, taking as inspiration three classic designs: the Series 7 by Arne Jacobsen, the Eames Eiffel Chair and the Tulip Armchair created by Eero Saarinen. The outstanding feature of the chair is its curvaceous organic body that sits on four slim legs. It is constructed from dyed polypropylene with a special finish that gives it a velvety touch. The Masters Metallic Armchair is lightweight and stackable as well as comfortable making it a versatile and durable choice for both indoor and outdoor use. The compact design measures 57 x 84 x 47 cm.
