The Masters Metallic Armchair has been created by Philippe Starck for the brand Kartell. Masters is a tribute from Starck to three 20th century masters: Charles Eames, Arne Jacobsen and Eero Saarinen. Drawing inspiration from some of the trio's most famous designs, this stylish post-modern chair is a comfortable and visually stunning masterpiece in its own right.
The Masters Metallic Armchair has a four-legged design with arm and backrests that have been intricately formed from gold-finished plastic tubing. In fact, while the chair looks purely metallic, the whole structure has actually been composed using thermoplastic technopolymer and a mineral and metallic filler. This makes it suitable for outdoor use, while at 4.1kg it will be light enough to carry and stack easily as well.
The design of the Masters Metallic Armchair mixes swirling tubes with tapered legs and a concave seat that provides optimal comfort. It comes with discreet pads on the base of the legs to protect flooring from damage. The chair measures 53.5cm wide and 55cm deep, with a total height of 83cm and a seat height of 46cm. Featuring elements of Jacobsen's Series 7 Chair, Eames' Eiffel Chair and Saarinen's Tulip Armchair, Starck has created something wholly original, and visually stunning.
