The Calle Bench was designed by Philipp Mainzer for the brand e15.
Mainzer created e15 in the 1990s as a place to showcase his own restless creativity, as well as to bring back timeless designs from the 20th century. His own work has played a key role in the label's success, and Calle is right at the heart of the story. Inspired by Spanish culture (hence the name, meaning "street"), this bench is wonderfully subtle and superbly practical.
At first glance, the Calle Benchappears to be a simple rectangular bench, measuring 160 x 40 cm and standing 47cm tall. Looks can deceive, though, because upon closer inspection owners will find a subtly curved seat, which makes the bench more comfortable to use while enhancing its appearance. Designed with meticulous care, and made using the finest wood, it will add an organic feel to dining spaces and fill in gaps around the home brilliantly. Mainzer intended for the Calle Bench to be a flexible product, suitable for use on its own or as a partner for his own Ponte table. But however it's deployed, the Calle Bench will serve as a delightful location for meals and social events.
