The Alto Console was designed by Philipp Mainzer for the brand e15.
Mainzer is the founder of e15, a German label which specialises in finding creative uses for European hardwoods, while refining and improving conventional forms. Introduced in 1996 soon after the label was created, the Alto Console is a great example of this approach. Offering pure lines and a stark composition, it showcases natural wood textures and will provide a functional storage option in various situations.
Made from oiled oak, the Alto Console is designed to rest alongside walls or other surfaces. It has an elongated rectangular shape measuring 140 x 40 x 85 cm and will serve well as a main console for living rooms or bedrooms. There are no excessive decorations or angles that seem out of place. Instead, the design uses clean angles with no visible screws, giving it an organic look and letting the oak wood speak for itself. The only intricate feature is the top, which tapers to around half of its thickness towards its edge. With its timeless design and intelligent use of hardwood, the Alto Console will slip seamlessly into all types of home interior.
