Angelo Mangiarotti was born in Milan, Italy in 1921. In 1948 he graduated from Milan University with a degree in architecture.
By 1953/54 he was a visiting lecturer for design at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He returned to Europe in 1955 and worked as an architect, industrial designer and urban planner in Italy.
From 1955 until 1960 he had a joint practice with Bruno Morassutti.
In 1990 Angelo Mangiarotti worked as a visiting professor at the Polytechnic in Milan.
By 1994 he received the "Compasso d'Oro" for his lifework.
