Ditzel was one of Denmark's leading furniture designers of the mid to late-20th century, creating iconic lounge chairs and stools, almost all of which featured a sense of rebellion and creativity that went well beyond most contemporaries. Ditzel created the ND54 High Chair With Baby Seat for the Carl Hansen brand in 1954 as a solution to a personal problem: finding comfortable seating options for her young children.

The ND54 High Chair With Baby Seat still functions beautifully, offering style and enjoyment for a new generation. It has a classic high chair format, with angled legs and a safety seat. But in this case, little details elevate it above the alternatives. For instance, Ditzel included a leather strap to ensure that sitters cannot slide off the seat.
