The Vases collection, designed by JM Ferrero for the Spanish manufacturer Vondom, was introduced to the market at the Maison&Objet in Paris in the year 2011. The lamps of the Vases collection are reminiscent of elegantly cut diamonds – and shine at least as beautifully!
JM Ferrero's style is probably best described as “playful minimalism”. At the same time the Spanish designer especially loves patterns: during his studies JM Ferrero liked to occupy himself with textile design. His favourite: The hexagonal quilting pattern. This preference also strikes the eye in the Vases collection's design. The lamps of the Vases collection feature exciting 3D structures made up of lots of little rhombus shapes, creating a great visual effect when illuminated. The rest of the Vases collection's design is consciously kept at a reduced level, so that the clear lines may additionally emphasise and deepen this effect.
Originally Ferrero had envisioned the design of the Vases collection for a series of large vases, suited for hotels, very elegant and with a glossy finish. The Spanish manufacturer Vondom on the other hand discovered a sketch, in which Ferrero had turned the vases upside down and used them as a shade for lamps – Vondom liked this idea so well that they immediately commissioned him with the design and the idea. The Vases collection was born!
The soft, indirect lighting of the Vases collection creates a cosy, almost magical atmosphere – this way they stage your garden, terrace, balcony or the pool with stylish lighting. However, the Vases collection also looks great indoors. The XL format of the lamps by Vondom provides that certain something!
The Vases floor lamp as well as the Vases table lamp are made of transparent plastic and are available in two different versions. The different models of the Vases collection are manufactured using the rotation moulding process; the material, recyclable plastic, is water-proof and wonderfully suited for outdoor use. The joint beauty of design and functionality on the highest technological level was especially important for JM Ferrero for the Vases collection. That's why the Vases floor lamps and the Vases table lamp are also available as LED versions.
