The label then and now

In 1872, a Danish master carpenter turned his vision into reality: he founded the furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen in Copenhagen. His aspiration, both then and now, is to produce the best-quality furniture with a typical, yet timeless design!

The Ant is now a well-known design classic and laid the foundation for the Series 7 chair collection from Fritz Hansen. SAS Royal Hotel: Egg & Swan

After the Series 7 was introduced, the success of the furniture brand became unstoppable. Arne Jacobsen, as a furniture designer and architect, made a decisive contribution to this. He created an all-embracing work of art in the heart of Copenhagen for Fritz Hansen, namely the SAS Royal. It remains legendary to this day. Arne Jacobsen designed the complete architectural concept and was strongly influenced by the German Bauhaus architecture style. He also created the interior design, right down to the smallest detail. Two of his sensational armchairs are still sought-after collector’s items today:

The Egg: The unique shape of this armchair has made it a true furniture icon. It is based on the classic wing chair and does not feature any straight lines at all. The adjustable rocking mechanism and the sculptural, graceful form make this piece of furniture by Fritz Hansen an aesthetic comfort wonder.
