The Tizio Micro Desk Lamp was designed by Richard Sapper for the brand Artemide. Founded in 1960, Artemide is a Milan-based lighting label that has introduced some of the most innovative lamps of the past 50 years. This includes Tizio, a family of technical lamps which was created by German designer Sapper in 1972. At the time, the cantilever and weights design of models like the Tizio Micro Desk Lamp was revolutionary, allowing for precision control and elegant composition - and delivering exactly what professionals needed.
Now, the brand has updated Sapper's creations, making them ready for a new generation. The Tizio Micro Desk Lamp is - as the name suggests - a smaller version of the classic Tizio template. It features the same basic form, with a two-part cantilever spine, which is anchored via a base and weight combination. But with measurements of 49.5 x 43 cm, this model is smaller than most Tizio lamps, and will be ideal for bedroom desks or side tables. The Tizio Micro Desk Lamp is made from lightweight aluminium, making it easier to manipulate, while it needs a 12V bulb, which provides plenty of downward-focused light for close working tasks.
