Standard Chair

The Standard Chair is a classic by French designer Jean Prouvé and is produced by the label Vitra as a re-edition of the original.

As its name suggests Standard fulfills all the standard requirements of a chair. And because the load on a chair is heaviest on the back legs, where most of the body weight is located in a sitting position, the designer enhanced their volume and strength. The two front legs, which are made of simple steel tubes, create an interesting contrast.

Vitra offers the Standard Chair's metal frame in different lacqueres, the seat and back of the chair are always made of wood.
