The Belleville Armchair Wood was created by French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for the design label Vitra.
With work on display in the Musée National d'Art Moderne, New York's MoMA and the London Design Museum, the Bouroullec brothers have truly arrived on the scene - and this is a journey that began in their hometown in Brittany and saw them acquire training in Paris. Creations like the Belleville Armchair Wood prioritise the practical, but always bring out the pair's strong personality. Collaborations with names like Issey Miyake and Ligne Rosset have led to their work with Vitra and to the Belleville Armchair Wood.
It takes confidence to re-imagine the classic French bistro chair, but Ronan and Erwan have done it. The Belleville Armchair Wood combines exceptional balance with an elegance of line - there's an almost calligraphic beauty to it; the Bouroullecs have added their selection of materials from a choice of polished hardwoods. The Belleville Armchair Wood measures 55 x 50 x 83 cm with a seat height of 47cm and a backrest height of 83cm. They are surprisingly light and easy to stack - but they are so beautiful, you will want to keep them on display.
