The Formakami JH3 Suspension Lamp has been created by Jaime Hayon for the brand &Tradition. This lamp is Hayon's take on Traditional Asian lanterns, which he sees as a symbol of hope in the darkness. By widening the aperture on this rice paper lantern, Hayon seeks to create a lamp which illuminates widely and comforts the soul at the same time.
The Formakami JH3 Suspension Lamp has a two-part shade that has been hand-crafted from ivory coloured rice paper in Traditional Japanese style. The shade billows out at the base, while the upper element has a cylinder shape, and the two parts are separated by a black oak ring. Both elements contain bulbs, effectively turning them into two separate luminaires. As a result the bright downward light and gentler upper light combine to illuminate almost any room effectively.
The shade on the Formakami JH3 Suspension Lamp measures 65cm with a 45cm diameter, while it hangs from a 400cm long black fabric cable. The use of rice paper keeps the weight down to an easy-to-handle 0.8kg, while the lamp requires a pair of bulbs. Bulbs with the appropriate E27 socket can be ordered under accessories as required.
