The S 533 L Cantilever Chair leather was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the brand Thonet.
This renowned, heritage manufacturer has created high quality furnishings for the past 200 years and worked with a variety of top Bauhaus designers in the 1920s. The cantilever chair was regarded as a novel, minimalist design at that time, with many of the most influential designers working on its shape to create an enduring aesthetic which still has meaning today. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was the final Bauhaus director.
The S 533 L Cantilever Chair leather has a deceptively sturdy but elegantly curved frame of chrome-plated tubular steel, which combines beautifully with its bent leather seat and backrest upholstery. The backrest has a laced effect at the rear, and use of proprietary ThonetProtect and UV resistant materials means this chair is weather resistant enough to be sited outdoors. With a design aesthetic that's true to the 1927 creation of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, this modern release of the classic chair has everything needed to suit domestic or business consumers. It has a seat height of 44cm, and measures 50 x 82 x 77 cm.
