The Bauhaus Ashtray was designed by Marianne Brandt for the manufacturer Tecnolumen.
Already designed in 1924, this cylindrical ashtray features a rocking lid that easily lets the ash slide into the subjacent tray and has earned a spot at the MoMa in New York.
The lid simultaneously serves as odour trap. This system was later copied in many other ashtray designs.
