Cal 1 Exklusiv Rug

The Cal 1 Exklusiv Rug has been created by Nani Marquina for the brand Nanimarquina. The abstract shape of the rug was inspired by Alexander Calder's mobiles. The late Calder is credited with the concept of mobiles, a form of kinetic art that turned differently shaped objects like discs and organic forms into works of art.

The Cal 1 Exklusiv Rug pays tribute to him with its irregular shape. Made of 100% New Zealand wool, it is crafted by master weavers in India. The wool gives it softness, warmth and durability. This rug is hand-tufted. This is a weaving technique where the strands of yarn are punched into a fabric that has been stretched on a frame. The punching follows a template that digitally transfers a pattern onto the rug. The protruding strands are cut to give the rug the desired pile height. Using a needle or scissors, the details of the pattern are contoured. Latex is then applied to the underside so that the yarn remains firmly adhered to the rug.

The Cal 1 Exklusiv Rug has a length of 150cm, a width of 90cm and a height of 0.2cm. It comes in a selection of colours.
