The JWDA Table Lamp Marble was designed by Jonas Wagell for the brand Menu.
Jonas Wagell's studio, JWDA, is based in Stockholm, and the work of this young Swedish architect and designer displays characteristic Scandinavian minimalism and simplicity, together with a playfulness that blends contrasting textures and uses organic shapes. He has won many awards for his architecture and design. Menu is a Danish company that has worked with many innovative young designers since its launch in 1976. The brand specialises in pieces embodying functional and useful solutions for modern living.
The JWDA Table Lamp Marble, which has become a modern-day classic, comprises a cylindrical stone base on which sits a matte opal glass dome that has a soft and organic egg-like shape. There is a circular dimmer switch on the side of the base, enabling easy adjustment of the lamp's soft and muted glow. Wagell was inspired by the shape of traditional oil lamps when first creating this piece, and his original design has been updated by slightly enlarging both the glass shade and the marble stand. This striking lamp can be placed in bedrooms, hallways or even offices, as its subtle sophistication will fit in a range of decors.
