The Miunn Chair with Star-base black was designed by Karri Monni for furniture design company la palma. Founded in the late 70s by the Marcato brothers, la palma prides itself on its focus on unique and sustainable design, with almost the entirety of its range capable of being disassembled and recycled into raw materials. Aside from a responsible environmental attitude, it has been the recipient of several prestigious awards and was a German Design Award nominee in 2016.
Crafted from moulded wood and metal, Monni's Miunn Chair with Star-base black offsets expectations by combining the gentle geometry of an egg shape with strong natural materials. The seat itself is stabilised atop four standing legs and is ergonomically adapted to comfortably support the human form. Sturdy craftsmanship contributes to the look as well as the function here, as is evidenced by the precise bevelling present at the sides of the backrest. The sitting height is 45cm and the seat itself has a depth of 51cm. The total height of the piece is 77cm with a width of 48cm, allowing it to blend smoothly with a variety of table options. A sturdy yet mobile piece of furniture, it weighs a relatively light 6 kg.
