This environmentally-friendly Componibili Bio Container was engineered by Anna Castelli Ferrieri for the Italian furniture brand Kartell.
This brand specialises in plastic homeware and furniture. After teaming up with an award winning Italian bioplastics producer, Kartell produced a 'Greenguard' certified version of its iconic storage unit fabricated with bioplastic. Anna Castelli Ferrieri, a cofounder of the brand and an influential architect from Italy, is remembered for advocating the use of plastic as a mainstream material in the design industry. In 1996, using a new bioplastic made of agricultural waste, she created the Componibili Bio Container, which is still displayed at Paris' Pompidou Centre and New York's MOMA.
The cylindrical Componibili Bio Container by Anna Castelli Ferrieri has a diameter of 32cm and a height of 58.5cm. Featuring slide-open doors and three spacious compartments, it's easy to close and open thanks to the finger-hole handles. Highly versatile, the unit can meet different storage needs in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, nursery and even the office. It is 100% bioplastic and available in a choice of colours. If disposed of in a proper manner at the end of its lifespan, this product is not only recyclable but also biodegradable.
