Arbour Eco Sofa 3 Seater Black Base

The Arbour Eco Sofa 3 Seater Black Base has been created by Andreas Engesvik and Daniel Rybakken for the brand HAY. Winner of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel Award, this Nordic masterpiece blends sustainability, comfort and craftsmanship in a simple but beautifully composed design.

The Arbour Eco Sofa 3 Seater Black Base uses as little material as possible in its streamlined design. Engesvik and Rybakken chose to use solid beech and plywood for the frame, and every single part is FSC-certified to ensure that it won't deplete forests. Oeko-Tex foam has been used which minimises the use of harmful chemicals, while the Kvadrat Remix textiles use yarn scraps from other design projects, making efficient use of high-quality materials. At the same time, every aspect of the sofa has used artisan workshops, and each part can be disassembled and replaced with ease if needed.

The design itself features space for three sitters on two seat cushions, and on this model the frame has been finished in a pure anthracite tone. Size wise, the sofa measures 220cm long, is 87cm deep and stands 75cm tall, while the seat is 60cm deep and 40cm above the ground. Easy to customise, Arbour is both eco-friendly and superbly designed.
