The Planner PM02 Table Lamp was designed by Paul McCobb for the brand Fritz Hansen.
McCobb was a major American designer of the mid-20th century. Based in New York, he played a key role in the 1950s furniture boom, crafting elite pieces with mass appeal. The Planner series may well be his finest accomplishment - a series of furnishings which allowed Americans to style beautiful home and office interiors of the highest quality. A pioneering range in its time, Planner has now been resurrected by the Danish label Fritz Hansen, which specialises in classical designs with the same ageless qualities as those McCobb creations.
In the case of the Planner PM02 Table Lamp, McCobb created a small but beautifully conceived light source with huge appeal. Made from a mix of lacquered brass and white glass, the lamp has a cylindrical diffuser on a tripod stand. The whole unit measures just 31.4cm tall by 13.6cm in diameter, and it comes with a 250cm long cable - handy for placing it exactly where extra light is needed. It offers a genuine touch of 1950s magic for today's homes. Practical and imaginative, but also timeless, it is ideal for illuminating paperwork and reading materials.
