Product description

The unusual Knot Cushion was created by Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir for the Swedish label Design House Stockholm.

Anders Färdig launched Design House Stockholm in 1992. It works with the ideas of young designers to create collections that are destined to become Swedish classics of the future. Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir was inspired by the artistic work of her grandfather, developing a passion for arts and crafts as a child. She studied at the Iceland Academy of Arts and the Cranbrook Academy of Arts before opening her own studio in Reykjavik.

It was while making bear figures from crochet tubes in 2011 that Sigurðardóttir saw the inspiration for her Knot Cushion and began experimenting with knots. She liked the way her design was not immediately obvious as a cushion as well as its retro pop-art look. The crocheted fabric and soft polyester filling combine with the unusual design to create a cushion that's totally comfortable to sink into whether it's supporting the head or the body. The aesthetic shape of the Knot Cushion is pleasing on its own or grouped together on sofas and beds, while its compact size of 30 x 15 x 30 cm makes it perfect as a travel cushion.
