The Pailla Wall Lamp / Ceiling Lamp was created by Eileen Grey for the manufacturer ClassiCon. Established in 1990, this German luxury furniture company works with some of the finest emerging talent in the world as well as issuing iconic pieces from the past, created by some of the greatest names in design such as Otto Blumel and Eckart Muthesius. Hailing from an aristocratic Irish family, Eileen Grey 1878-1976 flouted the conventional female roles of the time by pursuing a career in the applied arts, first as a designer of decorative panels and later by producing groundbreaking pieces in tubular steel. She is remembered as one of the key figures of the Modernist Movement of the 1920s-30s.

Originally dating from 1927 during the height of Eileen Grey's productivity, the Pailla Wall Lamp / Ceiling Lamp from ClassiCon conjures up a distinctively rugged, nautical feeling. The name indicates that it was designed for Tempe a Pailla, the designer's own home on the Cote d'Azure. Measuring 16cm in length and 8.4cm in width, it consists of a telescope-like cylinder in two sections, coated with lacquer and finished with chrome trim. It is especially suitable for bathrooms and industrial-style apartments.
