The modish and functional Dry Cake Server was designed for the prominent manufacturer Alessi by the veteran architect and designer Achille Castiglioni. After graduating from the Politecnico di Milano in 1944, Castiglioni, along with his two brothers, gained experience working alongside Luigi Caccia Dominioni. The architect and designer continued to collaborate and work closely with his brother Pier Giacomo until his brother's death in 1968. Castiglioni worked on some notable projects during the course of his career, not least the restoration of Palazzo della Permanente after its destruction during the second world war. In the designer's later years, he lectured at the Politecnico di Torino and later became a full professor at Politecnico di Milano.
Constructed entirely from polished stainless steel, the Dry Cake Server is a stylish and contemporary accessory for the modern kitchen. Suitable for use with cakes, desserts, pies and flans, this essential culinary item is easily cleaned, dishwasher safe and will remain in excellent condition for many years to come. The Dry Cake Server can be purchased individually or with other items from the collection, including a spaghetti tong and fork. The cake server measures 26cm in length.
