The Maui Chair was designed by Vico Magistretti for leading Italian furniture production company Kartell.
Magistretti was born in Milan, moved to Switzerland and later returned to Italy to study at Milan Polytechnic. After graduating, his reputation both as an architect and a furniture designer grew rapidly.
His ambition was to produce top-quality design with superb workmanship to create objects that were not only beautiful but functional and long lasting. His work drew international acclaim, including the Gold Medal from the Chartered Society of Industrial Artists and Designers in 1986.
Magistretti's collaboration with Kartell allowed him to combine sculptural design with refined production technology. The Maui collection is a perfect example of this.
This stackable version of the Maui Chair is simple and elegant. It is made from moulded polypropylene on a base of chrome-plated steel tubing. With clean, minimalist lines, available in a range of looks and finishes, it is perfect for the home or office.
This classic piece of modern styling stands out on its own or can be combined with other items from the Maui collection to create a stunning suite of furniture.
