The Eclisse Table Lamp has been created by Ludivico Magistretti for the brand Artemide. Eclisse appeared in 1965 and quickly became a modern classic, winning a 1967 Compasso d'Oro Award. The key to this creative design is its inner shade, which can be adjusted to create an 'eclipse', muting or brightening the light source as desired.
The Eclisse Table Lamp has a quirky design which resembles a tiny astronaut - a nod to the futuristic spirit of the 1960s. The light source is held in a spherical upper section with a cut-away aperture, and can rotate inside the shell or be shuttered to mute its brightness. As a result, Eclisse also delivers both direct and indirect light, with settings for every situation.
The exterior of the Eclisse Table Lamp is made from metal with a 'sputtered' coating that mixes pure tones with minimal use of solvents. The lamp has a height of 18cm and a diameter of 12cm and comes in a choice of colours. A technopolymer material has been used for the moving interior parts and the diffuser, and the switch can be found on the exterior of the lamp. A single bulb is required, and the appropriate lamp with the E14 socket can be ordered under accessories.
