The Palette Table JH7 Side Table was developed by Jaime Hayon for the manufacturer &Tradition, a leading producer of cutting-edge Scandinavian furniture.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential designers working today, Spanish-born Jaime Hayon employs a flamboyant, Post-Modern style, which draws on the bold shapes and hues of his home country's art and architecture. His pieces are held in the permanent collections of many important museums.
Much of Hayon's work blurs the boundaries between interior decoration and fine art, and this is certainly true of the Palette Table JH7 Side Table, with its strikingly sculptural, multi-levelled silhouette. Measuring 67.8cm in width and 115.2cm in length, the tabletop consists of three sections that stand at different heights and are made from three different materials: stained ash, polished brass and marble. These rest upon a supportive frame of powder-coated tubular steel. From every angle there is an interplay of geometric shapes - circles and oblongs above and intersecting angles below - all emphasised by the piece's clean lines and chic monochrome finish. Hayon intended the table to say something about the complex, multifaceted nature of modern lives. It's sure to be the centrepiece of any contemporary lounge.
