pappelina was founded by Lina Rickardsson at the turn of the 21st-century and combines her love of Swedish minimalism with her passion for the ancient art of weaving. The company is based in a revitalised family-run mill in Dalarna and produces rugs, blankets and home accessories in a sustainable way using pure textiles and recycled plastic. Rickardsson has received several awards for her textile designs, including the prestigious Formex Formidable Prize. Her pieces have become contemporary Scandinavian classics.

Environmentally friendly PVC is the unusual base for the Mono Rug 180x220cm. This is cut into strips and woven through polyester warp threads using time-honored techniques on traditional looms with wooden shuttles. With its monotone earthy colours and simple weave, this tough rug is perfect for everyday use, blending seamlessly into both domestic and office settings. The double-folded hemmed edge has a strong seam to give the rug extra durability. The selvedge edge is finished with a discreet, moulded rubber label, identifying it as a product of the company. The Mono Rug 180x220cm can be hand or machine washed at low temperatures.
