The About a Chair AAC 227 Soft Armchair Black Base has been created by Hee Welling for the brand HAY. In keeping with the brand's commitment to environmental conservation, it has a shell made of post-consumer recycled PP. This has put it in the class of Sustainable Choice products.

The shell on the About a Chair AAC 227 Soft Armchair Black Base dips and rises to form a sequence of graceful curves. This includes those on the sides that dip down to form sloped armrests and those on the seat that make it deeper and more comfortable. The shell is hidden beneath a layer of foam and wadding which is also concealed by upholstery. The highly regarded Kvadrat fabric has been used for this. The fabric that has been used is a blend made mostly of wool which gives the chair a soft, plush look. This is what adds the word soft to the chair's name. A frame made of steel supports the shell. It has been shaped into tubes and bent to form four angled legs.

The About a Chair AAC 227 Soft Armchair Black Base has a width of 59cm, a height of 82cm and a depth of 54cm. Its seat height is 46.5cm. It is available in neutral and earth-toned colours.
