Ikeru Vase High

The Ikeru Vase High has been created by Jaime Hayon for the brand Fritz Hansen. At first glance, it is not immediately clear that it is a vase. Rather, it looks like a unique decorative piece.

The unusual design of the Ikeru Vase High is inspired by the Japanese art of flower arrangement known as 'ikebana'. It uses metal flutes rather than the customary vases or ceramic pots to hold flowers. They are made of aluminium which is lightweight and durable. Each flute holds a single flower so that its beauty can be fully appreciated. It is kept fresh by water that goes into a glass tray underneath. The Ikeru Vase High has a round tray for the water. It has four round flutes that have varying thicknesses. They stand on a round plate that fits into the glass tray. There is a small space between the metallic plate and the tray so that the stems in each flute can touch the water that keeps them fresh.

The Ikeru Vase High has a height of 23.9cm and a diameter of 16cm. The flutes come in a forest green which is the colour of flower stems. The glass tray is tinted in a similar colour.
