The Knotted Chair was designed by famous Dutch designer Marcel Wanders for the furniture manufacturer Cappellini.
Wanders graduated cum laude from the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem and opened his own design studio in 1995 in Amsterdam. Wanders almost immediately received huge critical acclaim and commercial success with his iconic Knotted Chair, a design pairing high-tech materials with traditional production methods. Today, the designer's studio has around 50 international design experts and has produced over 1,700 products. Wanders is considered an anomalous prodigy in the design world, creating evocative, modern and profound pieces.
The Knotted Chair has a contemporary design that balances intricate braided metal framework and a minimalist net styling. This striking chair stands at 69cm high, 53cm wide, has a depth of 64cm and a seat height of 31cm. The chair is durable and stain resistant, with a carbon aramid fibre cord and epoxy resin fabrication. At just 2kg in weight, the chair is ideal for use in both indoor and outdoor areas, for reading, watching TV or working at a laptop. The lightweight design makes it easy to move around and cater for unexpected guests.
