Wilde + Spieth was founded in 1831 as a carpenters, in Esslingen am Neckar and initially produced shutters. In 1912 the company was renamed Wilde + Spieth. It was only with the designer and architect Egon Eiermann that the German stopped the production of roller shutters and instead produced seating in 1948. Today Wilde + Spieth also produces orchestra chairs, music stands and music accessories.

Architect and designer Egon Eiermann had set himself the goal of bringing furniture series for social housing on to the market in cooperation with Wilde + Spieth. By 1970, he created over 30 Eiermann models for Wilde + Spieth from plywood and steel pipe, which are now considered design classics.
For the exhibition "How to live?" in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, Egon Eiermann and Wilde + Spieth designed various patterned furniture for social housing in 1949. The lightweight, space-saving, moving furniture design company had their first appearance and immediately excited great enthusiasm among the exhibition visitors.

The demand for innovative design objects by Eiermann rose so that Wilde + Spieth had to expand in the early 1960s. A new Wilde + Spieth factory was built, which now exclusively produced designer seating.
