The Tizio 50 Desk Lamp was designed by Richard Sapper for the brand Artemide. Artemide is one of Italy's and Europe's leading lighting brands. Formed in 1960, the company has introduced a series of classic designs such as Skydro, Tolomeo, and the Nessino range. However, few collections are as iconic as Tizio - which was unveiled by German designer Richard Sapper in 1972.
The Tizio collection of professional desk lamps took a completely new direction, using counterweights to allow easy positioning and precision lighting - while achieving a streamlined industrial look that made them hugely popular with everyone from students to graphic designers. The Tizio 50 Desk Lamp is one of the larger entries in the family, measuring 78 x 66 cm. It has the same template, featuring a cantilever column with two hinged parts, and a counterweight which stabilises the diffuser. The diffuser itself is compact and functional and the base is just as minimalist, measuring just 11cm across. Finely engineered and beautiful, the Tizio 50 Desk Lamp is a superb choice for anyone who takes desk lighting seriously.
