The Kiulu Bench A was designed by Koichi Futatsumata for the brandArtek brand.

Futatsumata is a major Japanese design talent who is known for innovative blends of technical wizardry and traditional styles. Artek has a similar mission to develop new concepts for Finnish design while absorbing that nation's finest design traditions. The Kiulu Bench A is part of a collaboration between the two, taking inspiration from public bathing furniture to offer something radically new for home usage.

The Kiulu Bench A measures 88cm or 118cm long, making it the larger of the two Kiulu benches. It consists of a rectangular central bench which stands 45cm above the ground and is 36cm wide. Futatsumata has added semi-circular storage bins at either end of the bench, thereby providing handy space to place anything from flip-flops to bath cosmetics. But the star of the show here is the beech wood used in the item's construction. Pure and light, but extremely strong, it ensures that the Kiulu Bench A is both beautiful and functional. Bridging the cultures of Finland and Japan, this versatile bench and storage product marries grace and practicality in a uniquely stylish manner.
