CLASSICON
ClassiCon is a German design company with their HQ in Munich, Germany. The company was founded in the year 1990 by Stephan Fischer von Poturzyn. ClassiCon is famous for producing modern classics. To achieve this ClassiCon works with many designers like Eileen Gray, Konstantin Grcic, Eckart Muthesius, Herbert H. Schultes, Stephan Braunfels, and Christoph Bönninger.
Eileen Gray is one of the most important designers for the quality brand. ClassiCon manufactures and sells the Eileen Gray collection as a worldwide licensee of the Aram Designs Ltd. In London. The designer worked closely with Zeev Aram in the beginning of the 1970s to develop her design objects and make them ready for mass production. Five years later Zeev Aram received the worldwide license for the launching, production, and distribution of Eileen Gray's designs. And ClassiCon knew that they absolutely needed the creations by Eileen Gray in their furniture selection.
In the production process of a ClassiCon design piece high quality is always their first concern. For ClassiCon this means that each and every piece of furniture from the classics collection is marked with a unerasable marking and additionally has its own serial number. With the signature the design company guarantees the sole use of high-quality materials and manufacturing technologies. Additionally, every ClassiCon product is subject to intensive quality controls. The signature guarantees every customer that they purchased an original piece of ClassiCon furniture and that it fulfills the highest quality demands.
The Adjustable Table E 1027 by Eileen gray is one of the true design classics by ClassiCon. The shape is ingenious and so distinctive that the side table quickly became a highlight in the design industry. The height-adjustable Adjustable Table from the year 1927 was named after the summer house E 1027, which Eileen Gray had had built for herself and her colleague Jean Badovici. The “E” stands for “Eileen”, the “10” for “Jean” – J is the tenth letter of the alphabet – the “2” for the “B” in the name Badovici and the “7” for the letter “G” in her own last name.
Another design highlight by ClassiCon is the Bebendum armchair, also designed by Eileen Gray in the year 1929. The designer gave this armchair the name “Bibendum”, because it resembles the mascot in the commercials by the French tire manufacturer Michelin. Despite its size, the armchair convinces us with absolute harmony and boisterous charms. Like a small throne the Bibendum armchair adapts to its surroundings and it is truly royally comfortable.
