Eiffel Shelf Square

The Eiffel Shelf Square has been created by Depping Jørgensen and Jakob Jørgensen for the brand HAY. Inspired by the famous tower of the same name and the engineering brilliance of Gustav Eiffel, this industrial-style shelf employs stark metallic lines and a clear design vernacular to create something totally original and convincing.

The Eiffel Shelf Square has an unusual form that is shaped like a truncated pyramid. The sides taper slightly towards the peak of the unit, making it more stable and stronger than a standard linear design. Within that frame, the designers have added a series of four shelves that become narrower towards the upper surface. Each flat surface has been made from MDF harvested from FSC-certified reserves, while the exterior frame is made from cast aluminium. An ink black finish has been applied across the piece as well, completing the 19th century-style industrial look.

The Eiffel Shelf Square has a height of 110cm and measures 52cm wide by 48cm deep. All of the unit's surfaces can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth, ensuring the aesthetic remains intact and impressive for as long as possible. It can be used to store books, ornaments or even houseplants.
