The Akari UF4-33N Floor Lamp was designed by Isamu Noguchi for the design company Vitra.
Isamu Noguchi 1904-1988 was a Japanese-American artist and designer who said of his lighting pieces, 'The harshness of electricity is transformed through the magic of paper back to the light of our origin - the sun - so that its warmth may continue to fill our rooms at night'. Vitra breathes new light into this decades-old design, honouring the life and work of an incredible designer. The Swiss design brand has a talent for revitalising classic works and also celebrating modern designers.
The Akari UF4-33N Floor Lamp is an angular work of art. Noguchi's 1951 creation was inspired by traditional Japanese paper lanterns. Creating a unique silhouette with strong lines softened by the diffused light. The lamp adds a warm, golden glow to a room, perfect for a sitting room. A group of lamps from the Akari range creates a stunning feature. The Akari UF4-33N Floor Lamp is constructed using shoji paper, bamboo and steel wire. The lamp measures 47 x 47 x 190 cm and requires one 20W E27 LED bulb, sold separately.
