The sleek and awe-inspiring Akari 9AD table Lamp was designed by the late Isamu Noguchi for the popular Vitra furniture company.
Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese American designer and artist, endeavoured to unite the West and the East through his artistic works. He was working in China and Japan and later joined Vitra to design lighting solutions. Having studied brush drawing in China, Noguchi also dealt with clay under the famous Japanese master potter, Jinmatsu Uno. He later died in New York in 1988 having built solid works in the art and design industry.
This amazing Akari 9AD table Lamp is made of steel wire, shoji paper, and bamboo. A combination of these materials gives the lamp an appealing, soft aesthetic and contributes to its durability. The lamp measures 44cm in diameter and 62cm in height. It is easy to see in this one piece how Noguchi attempted to bridge gaps between the Eastern and Western worlds.
The lamp is 220-240V capable and comes with an EU plug. It can be paired with the Akari XP1 Table Lamp or the Akari 1A Table Lamp if you wish to build up a unified collection.
