Collections by Flos

Design made in Italy – Flos stands for the highest quality, innovative functionality, and excellent design. Flos is one of the most famous Italian manufacturers for design lighting & lamps, floor lamps, ceiling lamps, & wall lamps, as well as technical lights and spots. Since its founding in 1962 in Merano, South Tirol, by Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina Flos developed to become the epitome of modern lighting. The first Flos shop is opened in Milano in 1968.

To express their visionary ideas for design Flos brought in true design icons: Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, as well as Tobia Scarpa should experiment with new materials and develop prestigious lamps. The Castiglioni brothers created a true design classic: the Flos Arco floor lamp. Another highlight by the Italian designer is the Taraxacum suspension lamp, which established the cocoon effect meanwhile characteristic for Flos.

In the course of the company's story of success Flos continued to cooperate with international star designers, yet also ventured to work with aspiring young designers. In the year 1988 Flos began working with Philippe Starck. Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic, Marc Newson, Antonio Citterio, Marcello Ziliani, Marcel Wanders, Sebastian Wrong, Laurene Leon Boym, Piero Lissoni, Rodolfo Dordoni, Tim Derhaag, Johanna Grawunder, Joris Laarman, Knud Holscher, Barber & Osgerby, Patricia Urquiola, Paul Cocksedge, and Ron Gilad followed.

These creative phases with renowned designers resulted in numerous lamps that have advanced to the status of absolute design classics, including the Parentesi by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù, Arco and Taraxacum by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, the Archimoon series, Romeo and the Ktribe lighting collection by Philippe Starck, the Glo Ball series by Jasper Morrison, the Skygarden ceiling lamp and Zeppelin by Marcel Wanders, Ray by Rodolfo Dordoni, as well as the Kelvin lamps by Antonio Citterio with Toan Nguyen. Some lamp models even found their way into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Flos was internationally awarded for many of its lamps, like with the "Compasso d'Oro" and the "Annual International Lighting Design Award".
