The contemporary U Shine Bowl 14cm was created by Eugeni Quitllet for leading Italian design company Kartell.

This brand has been in existence for over 60 years, and has stand-alone shops and concessions all over the world. The brand focuses on the use of plastic in its designs, and likes to engage with emerging technology. Spanish designer Eugeni Quitllet designed the U Shine Bowl 14cm for the brand. Quitllet won the title of Designer of the Year for the 2016 Maison&Objet design fair, and is known for mixing architectural and sculptural elements to create pieces that are beautiful and ergonomic, but that maintain a sense of humour. He designed the U Shine Bowl 14cm for Kartell in 2013 as part of the Shine collection. The bowl is made in an Art Deco style. It mixes vintage style with modern materials; the bowl is not made from glass, but is in fact created from transparent PMMA plastic. This item has the unusual look of a bowl within a stand, almost like an optical illusion. The width of the bowl is 29cm, the height is 14cm and the depth is 15cm. It weighs 1.8 kg.
