Product description

The Cross-Plex T-500 Table Lamp was designed by Bodil Kjær for the brand Fritz Hansen.

Fritz Hansen created his successful Danish design company in the late 19th century, building on his skills as a cabinet maker. Today, the label is known for reworking classic 20th century designs and showcasing the work of new designers. Bodil Kjær is a prominent figure in modern design and a female pioneer in architecture. Her work is pared back to its essential elements. In 2018, she received the Prize of Honour at Denmark's prestigious Design Awards.

First produced in 1961, the Cross-Plex T-500 Table Lamp is one of Kjær's most recognised designs. It is elegant, compact and highly functional, suitable for any room of the home as well as the office. It is moulded from plexiglass and shaped like a cross, hence its name. Two pieces of plexiglass slot together, leaving just enough space for the cord to pass through. A diffuser of opal acrylic completes the design. From the side it resembles a small building, referencing the designer's architectural background. The Cross-Plex T-500 Table Lamp measures 20 x 50 cm and has a cord length of 300cm.
