The Susanna Armchair was designed by the Emaf Progetti Studio for the manufacturer Zanotta.
This company has been a leading force in Italian design for over 50 years, employing a mixture of cutting-edge new ways of processing metal and plastic alongside traditional handcrafted materials such as leather and marble. The Emaf Progetti Studio was founded in 1982 by Aurelio Zanotta, who also helped to establish the company of the same name in 1954. The studio works across a range of disciplines, including graphics, installations and brand management.
Referencing the clean lines and bold juxtapositions of the 1920s Bauhaus movement, the Susanna Armchair measures 83cm in height and 55cm in width, with a seat height of 45cm. A chrome-plated tubular steel frame supports a seat consisting of two thick, foam-filled cushions. The elegant curvature of the frame contrasts with the linear profile of the seat rest, and, likewise, the coldness of metal is played off against the warmth of luxurious leather upholstery. Visible seaming to the cushions adds to the graphic impact of the piece. Available in a choice of rich colours, the Eva Armchair is chic enough to grace even the most immaculate of modern lounges.
