The Mariposa Club Armchair was created by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for design company Vitra.
Swiss design brand Vitra works with designers from around the world to create a collection of imaginative and elegant furniture. Much of its extensive work is on display at the label's very own archive museum. For the Mariposa Club Armchair, award-winning British design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby paired up with the brand. The designers have worked together since 1996, often using a research-led focus.
The Mariposa Club Armchair was designed with understated elegance in mind. Intended for smaller spaces, the armchair is compact yet sumptuous, making it ideal for a reading nook. The plump cushioning and high armrests give a feeling of warmth and comfort, while the piped seaming gives the armchair a more structured and contemporary aesthetic. The Mariposa Club Armchair is constructed from a metal frame with polyurethane foam padding and cushions. The backrest cushions can be detached by unzipping from the base, and the covers are removable. The Mariposa Club Armchair measures 81.5 x 71 x 87.5 cm, and the seat height is 41cm.
