The Limited Edition Eames Elephant has been created by Ray and Charles Eames for the brand Vitra. The Eames Elephant first appeared in 1945 and showcases the creativity which established the Eames as a major force in post-war American design. Quirky, full of imagination, and making great use of modern production methods, the Limited Edition Eames Elephant will delight adults and children alike.
The Eames have recently enjoyed a renaissance, with their chairs and furnishings being recognised as modern masterpieces. Swiss label Vitra has been instrumental in bringing many of their most important creations back to the market. Created from original 1940s sketches, this 2007 reintroduction is a limited edition version of the Elephant, and was produced to coincide with the centenary of Charles Eames' birth.
More than just a decoration, the Limited Edition Eames Elephant is a robust seat which can be added to nurseries or living rooms. Made from resilient stained plywood, the Elephant stands 41.6cm tall, is 41.3cm wide and 78cm long. This particular model was produced in limited quantities, making it a highly desirable variation, although plastic versions of the Eames Elephant are also available from the same label.
