The Angel Candle Holder was designed for the Vitra label.
Since Willi and Erika Fehlbaum founded this Swiss company in 1950, Vitra has commissioned the finest designers and architects of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. These big names include Norman Foster and Frank Gehry, Antonio Citterio and Charles & Ray Eames. Many other less well-known designers work for the company, of course, and together, they have agglomerated an incomparable collection of functional and beautiful household accessories.
Made of powder-coated steel, the Angel Candle Holder is the silhouette of a cupid holding the actual candle cup, its foot balanced upon a saucer-type dish. This profile refers to the original, ecclesiastical function of candles, while the comical rendering of the angel adds a humorous dimension. For example, the light catches the punched 'eye' holes, giving the face a sly expression. The entire structure is 16.1cm in height, 19.8cm in width and has a 12cm saucer diameter. In addition to being a source of light, this accessory will certainly be the talking point of any room in which it is placed, either alone or with other humorous accessories.
