The Etch Shade Suspension Lamp Ø50cm was designed by contemporary British designer Tom Dixon for his self-titled brand.
Given his huge success, it is incredible to think that the OBE-titled designer is self taught. Today, Dixon is regarded as one of the foremost designers and artists in Britain. From humble beginnings studying A Level pottery and trying his hand at music, Dixon received an OBE in 2001 for services to British Design, one of the high points of his stellar career. His pieces have been acquired by museums across the globe, including the MoMA in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The Etch Shade Suspension Lamp Ø50cm has a distinctly stylish look, fabricated in 0.4mm thick brass plates that have been punched through many times for a mesh-like effect. The brass frame captures light beautifully to create magnificent light displays in any indoor space, making this an excellent choice of statement lighting for entrance areas, dining rooms and living rooms. With a diameter of 50cm, canopy diameter of 12.5cm and a substantial cable length of 250cm, the lamp takes a prominent place in the room and provides a warm glow to the surrounding area.
